The digital revolution, including the internet and AI continue to reshape society by influencing communication; work; education; and ethics, while the pandemic has further transformed work practices and expectations. There is emerging evidence to suggest its technology may even influence our brain development.
Yet the amounts that private companies (and governments in the form of tax breaks, grants, subsidies etc.) invest in teaching machines (AI) is vast compared to the amounts of funds governments and private companies invest in teaching humans.
The Enlightenment of the 17th and 18th centuries played a crucial role in kickstarting the Industrial Revolution by fostering new ways of thinking that encouraged scientific progress and technological innovation, which led to profound economic and social transformations. Its legacy endures today.
The Hazels Membership provides a platform for the exchange of ideas, challenging convention, and fostering innovation to shape a better future for society and the planet.

The Industrial Revolution spearheaded by the UK led the shift from agrarian to industrial economies; influenced art for example, Joseph Wright of Derby’s chiaroscuro depictions of science and industry. Urbanisation and social changes reshaped class structures, housing, and gender roles, that we continue to experience today.
The space industry impacts many aspects of our daily lives. Inventions such as memory foam mattresses and scratch-resistant lenses, as well as our GPS and smartphones were influenced or developed by the space industry, as well as its impact on many other industries and sectors, from agriculture to biological research, protecting endangered species and forests.
Traditionally focused on STEM subjects, the UK space industry has far-reaching impacts. The Hazels aims to highlight the diverse skills used within the sector, and the wide ranging impact the UK space industry has on our daily lives.
The Hazels Space Skills Awards Membership Community Members will have opportunities to engage with:
Masterclasses from experts within the UK Space Industry
Skills workshops to discuss the business benefits of industry wide collaboration on skills development
Development of co-investment skills account models that puts purchasing power for learning more firmly in the hands of companies and individuals.
Creation of an industry wide diverse culture of part time, and output-based ways of working
The interconnected world presents both challenges and opportunities. Become a member of the Hazels and help to influence and shape how we can and will adapt and define our future, with the UK leading the way.
